Frequently asked questions
Not all unwanted hair will stop growing after a single treatment. Hairs in the so-called "growth phase" can be treated most effectively. Not all hairs are in the same phase at the same time, so multiple treatments are necessary to permanently reduce unwanted hair growth.
The time between treatments in the beginning: Face: 4 weeks Body: 6 weeks
Laser hair removal is experienced as "virtually" painless. Of course, the body does have sensitive areas, such as the elbows, knees, armpits, and pubic area. To make the treatment as pleasant as possible, we discuss/identify the client's pain threshold in close consultation with them, and the treatment is progressively applied. This way, Feel Smooth prevents the treatment from being painful for the client.
Yes! Unless we've agreed otherwise.
In some cases it is not possible to shave your back yourself before you come.
Please let us know so we can schedule extra time for shaving. There's a €7.50 surcharge for this. If you haven't shaved properly, the treatment will be much less effective. The treatment can also be painful because the laser burns off the hairs on the skin.
It is possible to be between 75 and 95% hair free after a number of laser treatments.
The number of laser treatments needed to achieve this is different for everyone. Some people will be finished with six treatments, while others need 10 or more.
Usually, some fine hairs remain. These are very difficult for the laser to remove. If only thin hairs remain, we allow a longer period between treatments. Sometimes it's more effective to repeat the laser treatment after 3 to 6 months. The remaining thin hairs can then regenerate. If we repeat the laser treatment after a few months, the effect will be much greater. Keep in mind that new hair growth can always occur due to hormones.
The absolute contraindications
(= When should you not be treated with laser?)
• Oncological condition of the skin or hypersensitivity after radiation.
• Heart attack less than 6 months old.
• Pacemaker/internal defibrillator.
• If a client is taking a course of antibiotics, this must be completed first. Laser treatment is only possible after approval from the dermatologist.
• Tumors.
• Autoimmune diseases.
• Poorly controlled epilepsy and 'aura' migraine.
• Pregnancy.
• Breastfeeding.
• Fresh scars from operations (not within 2 months).
The relative contraindications
(=treatment can be performed, but not on the affected areas unless extra precautions are taken or the treatment is carried out with extra care)
• Active cold sore infection (+3 weeks after): if you want to have hair removed around your mouth. This also applies to herpes infections elsewhere on the body, such as shingles (herpes zoster: blisters, itching, and nerve pain).
• Metals in or just under the skin where we are treating (we will have to keep a distance of 2 cm): piercings (will have to be removed temporarily), pins or screws in joints and bones, implants in the lower jaw if the chin needs to be treated.
• Tattoos: treatment cannot be done over the tattoo, as this will cause the tattoo to disappear/fade.
• Use of certain medications, such as Roacutane.
• HIV or Hepatitis.
• Diabetes Mellitus.
• Keloid reaction of the skin when you have wounds (= rubbery, itchy, dark, wild flesh during scar formation).
• Skin diseases (always consult a doctor first).
• Pigment disorders such as Vitiligo and Melasma.
• Well-controlled epilepsy.
Medicines
Many medications are sensitizing. This means they can cause hypersensitivity. It's impossible to list them all.
Pharmacists label medications that are highly photosensitive with "Avoid UV lamps and bright sunlight." This information can be found on the packaging and package insert. You can also use the website of the Medicines Evaluation Board (MEB), which can be found at www.cbg-meb.nl (https://www.cbg-meb.nl/).
Here you can search for all medications and their package inserts that are marketed in the Netherlands by active ingredient and product name. Pay attention to the terms photodermititis, photosensitivity, phototoxicity, photosensitivity, and photosensitivity. Several medications are also known to cause chronic photosensitivity. These include nalidixic acid, sulfonamides, tetracyclines, promethazine, furosemide, and phenothiazines.
Some exclusion criteria regarding laser treatment
• Unrealistic expectations of the client regarding the outcome of the treatment.
• Dark skin types (type VI).
• Blonde, red and gray hair can be an obstacle to effective treatment.
• The area to be treated has been exposed to the sun for less than 2 weeks (and the darker you are, the longer the period applies)
• Client is under 16 years of age and does not have parental permission.
If in doubt, we ask you to ask your GP or specialist beforehand whether they consider the treatments safe. If you have a male pattern of hair growth in women, discuss this with your GP and/or an endocrinologist first. It is helpful for your doctor to investigate and, if possible, treat any underlying health problems that may be manifesting the hirsutism. This will prevent you from starting or continuing treatment without any results. If the client is taking medication, always read the package insert for possible side effects and contraindications.
If in doubt, always consult a pharmacist or doctor.
Yes, we offer 5x packages (each package includes 5 treatments). You'll receive an additional discount when you purchase a 5x package!
Conditions: No refunds are given under any circumstances. If you wish to stop the laser treatment early (for any reason), NO refund is possible! We recommend booking a single treatment before booking a 5-package package.
The 5 treatments must be completed within 35 weeks. If an appointment is not canceled in time, an additional fee will be charged. After these fees have been paid, a subsequent appointment will be scheduled. This offer is NOT valid in conjunction with other promotions or discounts.
Yes, we recommend returning every six months to a year for one or more laser treatments.
Under the influence of hormones (stress, hormonal fluctuations, pregnancy, menopause, certain medications), dormant hair follicles can become active, or downy hairs can transform into regular hair. This is completely normal, and the amount of hair regrowth varies from person to person. Some people will not regrow any new hair, while others will.
When booking this package, refunds are non-existent. If you decide not to continue your treatment, or if you want to stop early or finish your laser hair removal, NO refunds are possible! We recommend booking a single treatment before booking a 5x package. This package is valid for 35 weeks from the date of purchase and cannot be combined with other promotions or discounts.
